TURBO:

I LOVE turbo kick. Turbo is the exercise class that doesn't feel like a workout - until the end when you realize you are dripping with sweat! It's fun, it's different, and it's energizing. I have lost over 40 lbs.- yes that's 40 lbs. - I can hardly believe it myself but it's true. Joanie is a terrific instructor - she is knowledgable, she's an inspiration, and she's just a great person!  I get upset if I ever have to miss one of her classes. Thanks to all of her hard work I have been able to change the way I think about exercise and change the way I look and feel for the better!!!!!

ATMOSPHERE:

Joanie has an amazing, positive attitude and makes a tough workout so much fun. She’s also great at helping people of all fitness levels have success with Bootcamp! It’s one of my favorite hours of the week.

Another thing about the class that I love is the atmosphere. I only knew one person when I started, but it feels like you have a little family when you’re done. Everyone is so welcoming and it doesn’t matter how good or bad you are at the moves, because everyone encourages you. Love it!

I definitely woke up this morning and felt like I got hit by a truck. Great workout last night, thank you! I really loved using the weights.

 

Your classes have been my savior, I have been so stressed out these last 8 months with my new job and planning the wedding that this has been my release. I used to belong to a gym back home and I loved taking the kickboxing and step classes. When I moved, I was so sad not to have that in my life anymore. I'm so happy I found your class, your enthusiasm and expertise will guide me to the fit bod I intend to have not just for the big day but for the rest of my life!

Bootcamp:

Hi Joanie,

   I just wanted to thank you for yesterday's class. Wow! What a workout! I always considered myself a workout video queen, I have done tons of them and get the moves pretty quickly (its not hard to get through one for me either) but last night I was barely able to keep up. I don't think I have sweated that much, ever. I'm definitely feeling the effects this morning, but I know I actually did something good for my body last night. This is exactly what I'm looking for to get into the shape I want to be for my wedding and for my life. I'm really looking forward to Saturday's Turbokick and to boot camp next week!

TURBOKICK CLASS:

She is AWESOME!  I would love to take more classes from her.  Her energy is infectious and she is a great teacher.  Hopefully she will be able to teach more classes – I would love to take more!

"Joanie I must tell you that I ABSOLUTELY enjoyed Saturday's class.  It was just what I needed to step up my routine.  This time I felt the pain in my abs, side, butt and thighs.  So I know that session hit all the core areas I was lacking.  After your workout I went to the gym til noon and did my cardio and weight routine.  I will keep my eye out for other specials that you place on LS and will look into signing up for a month.

I just want to thank you for last Tuesday night’s class. You are a great teacher and I left feeling very inspired and energized. I was looking at you jump around up there in front of the class, and I was thinking, yeah, she looks amazing but she’s probably about 25…I was also feeling like I was the oldest one in the class (I’m 44) Once you announced your age, however, I suddenly had a new role model!!

Making Fitness Fun


My husband and I have made active vacations a part of our lives for many years.  We have hiked many of the US National Parks in Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico and Arizona; the Dolomites in northern Italy and the Andes in Peru. 

This year we set out on another adventure to the Patagonia region in southern Chile.  The area is famous for hiking the “W” which consists of a series of pretty rigorous full day hikes.

As with all of our trips, being fit is a critical part of being able to take full advantage of what the region has to offer. 

We typically start training several months ahead of our trips.  An important part of preparing is simply getting “time in boots” and getting ourselves “pack worthy”.  We typically go on long walks (in boots and with packs).  In addition, we incorporate kickboxing sessions with Joanie.  She helps us focus on cardiovascular conditioning, muscle strength and balance, which is important when walking on rugged, narrow trails.   We found these workouts so helpful that a month ahead of our departure we doubled our workout sessions with Joanie!  These sessions not only help us improve our fitness levels, but they are a lot of fun! 

So for us the journey is getting ready as well as the trip itself!  Next stop is Mount Blanc in the French and Italian Alps!
